The toast… one of the most important parts of your wedding reception. At this time your new husband or wife, your parents, and members of your wedding party all stand up and say a few warm felt words about the happy couple. We’ve all seen really good toasts, and of course some not so good toasts. We’ve all seen how that mixture can go horribly wrong.Do not be disrespectful by telling a story that will humiliate the newlyweds. You can have the notes there incase you freeze up, but don’t rely fully on them.Do not bring up past boyfriends or girlfriends, that’s just bound to make someone uncomfortable. Think about it, is it really appropriate to bring that up on someone’s wedding day?Do not try to be a stand up comedian. Jokes are fun in a wedding toast, but tell one too many and people will think you’re trying to make this about you and not the happy couple.Absolutely DO:Do keep it short and sweet and to the point. Nobody wants to here someone ramble on for 15 minutes.Do talk equally about the bride and groom, even if you’re the grooms best friend be sure to mention the bride a few times in there as well.
